Description

The Old Manse in Croick is a parliamentary manse, constructed in 1827. It was built to the designs of Thomas Telford, with James Smith acting as the contractor. The building is a single-storey, H-shaped structure with five bays. It is harled, with margins of tooled ashlar. The south elevation features a central entrance, now with a modern glazed door, flanked by windows, with advanced flanking bays. Later infilling has been added to the rear of the building. The windows are fitted with four-pane glazing, and the roof is slate, with paired, corniced ridge stacks. References to the building appear in the Telford Atlas of 1838 and the New Statistical Account of 1840.
