Description
Croick Parish Church is a T-plan church built in 1827, designed by Thomas Telford and constructed by James Smith. The church is harled, with tooled margins to the stonework. The north elevation features a pair of depressed arched outer doors, and similarly arched central windows with two-light cast-iron lattice glazing. The east and west gables, and the south wing of the T-plan, share this window detailing. A bellcote with stumpy finials sits at the west apex.
Inside, original interior fittings remain, including pews, a communion table, and a pulpit. The surrounding burial ground is bounded by a coped rubble wall and contains various 19th-century tombs. The east window bears inscriptions of names and signatures of people evicted from neighbouring straths in 1845 and Gruinards (Greenyards) in 1854; during harsh winters, multiple families sought shelter in the burial ground. The church retains its original interior layout at a time when many similar buildings have been altered. The church remains in ecclesiastical use.
