Description
These warehouses form part of a harbour complex at Lybster Harbour, built in 1849 and rebuilt in 1882. The harbour comprises four basins. The warehouses are constructed of flagstone rubble masonry, with some modern rendering. A small, octagonal lighthouse with a domed lantern is also part of the harbour complex. Two storehouses adjoin one another, both built of rubble with rubble dressings. The western storehouse is three storeys high and has six symmetrical bays. A two-storey section, with six bays, abuts the west gable of the western storehouse. Both storehouses are covered by corrugated asbestos roofs. The western section of the store ranges was reportedly used as a salmon fisherman’s bothy until after the Second World War, while the eastern section served as a herring fishing station; a separate ladies' water closet was reportedly located at the end of this section.
