Description
The United Free Church in Nigg, dated 1844, is a simple rectangular building constructed of coursed red rubble with tooled margins. It features three-bay flanks that include three round-headed keystoned windows, each with wooden centre Y-mullions. At the center of the east gable is a projecting tower, which has margined stages and an entrance in its square base. This tower is topped by two small octagonal stages and a drum with a moulded eaves cornice, an ogee slated roof, and a weathervane. The tower also includes two blind occuli and three louvred belfry windows.
The main entrance consists of double-leafed panelled doors, flanked by two small piended wings that have 12-pane windows, as well as outer round-headed windows that match those on the flanks. Inside, there are two blocked gallery windows. The west apex is adorned with a ball finial, and the building has a slate roof. There is a modern extension at the rear.
