Description
This is an early 19th century icehouse, consisting of a single vaulted chamber built into the side of a slope. The east-facing frontage is constructed of random rubble, with a low centre doorway and a roughly tooled lintel. The curved roofline is topped with roughly tooled coping and a turf covering. Commercial icehouses of this type are uncommon on the west coast of the Highlands, although they are frequently found in salmon fishing areas on the east coast.
