Description
The remains of Kilmallie Old Parish Church, dating to an earlier period, now function as a burial enclosure. It includes the square, roofless remnants of the original church building and the graves of some members of the Cameron of Lochiel family. The site is marked by a coped rubble-walled enclosure with square gate piers constructed of ashlar, topped with shaped caps. Various interesting 18th and 19th century tombstones are present, including some finely constructed and carved slate headstones. Donald MacCulloch’s 1939 book, Romantic Lochaber, discusses the site on pages 174-8.
