Description

The Clapper Bridge at Aultbea is a late 18th and early 19th century structure, built as a seven-arch clapper bridge. It is constructed of rubble stone, with a rubble parapet. A metal guard rail has been installed on the west side. Clapper bridges, characterised by arches formed from single or multiple stone slabs, are typical of the northwest coast. The bridge was scheduled for bypass in 1983. Its statutory address is Aultbea, Bridge over Allt Beithe.
