Description
Stratton Lodge Hotel is a late 18th century, two-storey and attic house built over a raised basement, with a symmetrical three-bay front facing southeast. A large two-storey rear addition and a further rear wing extend from the main structure. The front is constructed of pinned rubble with contrasting ashlar margins and dressings, while the sides and rear additions are harled.
The central bay projects slightly and is topped with a pediment. A central entrance is approached by a splayed flight of steps that originally oversailed the basement area, but is now infilled. An oculus is located in the pediment, flanked by small piended dormers. Other features include a moulded eaves cornice, scroll skew details, and panelled end stacks.
A circa 1900, crowstepped and gabled, two-storey harled rear addition, with four bays, is linked to the original house by a two-bay block. Irregular fenestration is present on the ground floor, with four gabled dormers breaking the wallhead and a single end stack. A further, later wing projects from the northeast gable, also gabled.
Multi-pane glazing is used throughout, and the roofs are slate.
