Description
Allanfearn Farmhouse is a mid-19th century single-storey and attic house built over a raised basement. It has a symmetrical three-bay southwest-facing front, with a slightly advanced and gabled central bay. The farmhouse is constructed from red rubble with tooled rubble and ashlar dressings. A round-headed doorway features a cavetto moulded reveal, approached by a short flight of steps; a similarly detailed window is positioned above. Flanking windows are similar in design, and a matching pattern of windows is found in the return gables. Canted dormers are located in the outer bays on both the front and rear elevations. The windows have lying-pane glazing, and the ends of the building are marked by coped stacks. The roof is slate, with projecting eaves. A rear stair projection is present. Allanfearn Farmhouse appears on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1870.
