Description
The Old Bridge at Whitebridge, built in 1732 by General Wade, is a high single span hump-back bridge. It is constructed of rubble with some modern rendering and features ashlar dressings. The arch ring, which is keystoned, springs from low ashlar abutments. There is a pulvinated string course that is partially damaged, and the cope to the parapet is roughly tooled, rising to a shallow point in the center. The approaches to the bridge are splayed, and the approximate span is 40 feet.
