Description

This is a rubble bridge built between 1803 and 1804, designed by Thomas Telford. It crosses the Fionn Lighe River at Druim Na Saille, near Kinlocheil. The bridge features a slightly hump-backed single arch constructed of dressed rubble, with a low parapet. The south side of the parapet has been repaired, incorporating breeze blocks. The approximate span of the arch is 45 feet. The bridge was originally part of the Locheil to Loch-na-Gaul (an early name for Arisaig) road, initially begun by local landowners and subsequently completed by the Commissioners for Highland Roads and Bridges between 1804 and 1805. It formerly served a track leading up the glen, but is now bypassed by the re-aligned main road (A830).
