Description

Aldernaig is a house dated 1878, originally functioning as a post office and shop. It is a single storey and attic building with three bays, constructed of white-washed rubble with painted, tooled ashlar margins. The centre door is sheltered by a slated, gabled canopy supported by a pair of wooden columns. There are two gabled dormers, and the windows have four panes of glazing. A shop door is located in the east gable. A single-storey wing extends to the rear. The building has coped end stacks and slate roofs with projecting eaves. A monogram 'EE', representing Edward Ellice, is visible. A former mill close by is not part of this listing.
