Primary School And Master's House, Invergarry

Dated 1868, the building comprises a primary school and an adjoining schoolmaster's house, located in Invergarry. The school is a single-storey, L-shaped structure with a 3-bay extension added in the mid-1970s to the south gable. The schoolmaster's house is also single-storey, with an attic, and features a projecting 2-bay south gable. Both buildings are constructed of coursed grey rubble with contrasting, tooled ashlar dressings of red sandstone. A modern, harled extension replaces the original material on part of the school. The school's west gable incorporates a transomed and mullioned window, with a single bipartite window in the west elevation, framing the entrance. A bellcote sits on the east wallhead. The schoolmaster's house has its entrance in the southeast re-entrant angle, with a bipartite window in the south gable. The windows are primarily 2- and 4-pane sash windows. The roof is slate, with projecting eaves and a coped end stack. A datestone has been moved to the south gable of the school extension. A wall clock is set into the south wall of the school.
