Description
Aldie Mill, located by the Aldie Water in Tain, is an early to mid 19th century building that stands two storeys tall and features three bays. It has a T-shaped plan, with a square kiln at the rear forming one arm of the T. The exterior is made of harled rubble with stugged dressings.
The south elevation has a wide off-centre entrance, and there is a gabled centre loft hoist that rises through the eaves. Each gable has small windows, and the gable apexes are topped with stone ball finials. The square kiln at the centre of the rear has a pyramidal roof and retains the remains of a revolving vent. Additionally, there is an iron overshot wheel that is fed by a reconstructed lade. The roofs are covered with slate.
