Description

The Engine and Gunpowder House in Fort Augustus is an earlier 18th century, simple square building made of rubble and standing two stories tall. It features tooled rubble dressings and some harl pointing, with slightly battered walls. The north elevation has a wide round-headed entrance at the center, which is fitted with a later double leaf plank door. On the west elevation, there are shuttered windows on both the ground and first floors. The building is topped with a pyramidal slate roof that has slender finials and a weather vane.
