Description

Invermoriston Home Farm, built around 1755, is a two-storey, symmetrical, ten-bay structure facing south. It is connected by recessed single-storey bays to two-storey, two-bay outer pavilions that have piended roofs. The building is harled with polished sandstone ashlar margins, and the northern side is painted white.

The south elevation features ten bays divided into two groups of five. The first-floor windows are slightly longer than those on the ground floor. A mural sundial, dated 1663, is set in the center. The principal entrance is located in the right (eastern) link, which is matched by a single window in the left (western) link. The outer pavilions each have a single window on the ground and first floors.

On the northern elevation, the main block is divided into two wide three-bay units with a central door on the right (west). There is another entrance in the western quadrant. The outer wings have a single ground-floor window in the outer bays and paired first-floor windows. Some alterations have been made to the entrances, including a modern wide garage door on the western side and a forestair leading to the eastern gable of the eastern pavilion. The windows feature four and eight-pane glazing, and there are two small attic windows in the eastern gable of the main block. The building has deep eaves bands and a cavetto eaves cornice, with end and center corniced ashlar stacks featuring string courses. The roofs are slate, with piended roofs on the outer pavilion wings.

There are also small square, single-storey, single-bay rubble outer wings with tooled ashlar margins and eaves bands, topped with pyramidal slate roofs. These wings are linked to the main range by short lengths of walling that once housed privies.

To the west of the main building, there is a large rectangular barn that closes off the rear rectangular court. This barn features long slit mural vents and a piended loft door that breaks the eaves, and it is primarily covered with corrugated asbestos roofing. Additionally, there are various farm buildings to the north and east that enclose the rear court.
