Description
The Old Calder is an early 19th century single-story, long range building originally used as a steading, situated at Calder Mains Steading Manse. It has a seven-bay front elevation facing east towards a lane. The central bay features a tall, basket-arched cart bay, flanked on either side by paired cart bays with similar arches. A stable door and window are located on the left side. Five symmetrical, rectangular vents provide access to the loft space. A forestair is located at the south gable, leading to the loft entrance. Chimneys are set at each end of the building, and the roof is covered with Caithness slate. The building is constructed of rubble with dressed rubble detailing.
