Description

The site comprises a burial ground and the remains of a simple T-plan church, dating to 1753 with substantial repairs undertaken in 1833. The church is constructed of harled rubble with dressed ashlar detailing. The rear (north) wing is slightly lower than the main section and may have been added in 1833. The entrance is now located in the east elevation of the rear wing. The south elevation features two large, segmental-headed windows centrally placed, flanked by smaller, similarly detailed windows in the outer bays. Gallery windows, similarly detailed, are found in the east and west gables, with a ground floor window in the west gable, now blocked at the east. Multi-pane and 12-pane glazing with delicate astragals is present in the front elevation windows. A bellcote shaped like a birdcage sits at the apex of the west gable, topped with a ball finial and an ogee cap, and the roof is covered with local slate. The interior has been stripped of all seats and fittings. The burial ground is enclosed by a coped rubble wall and contains a dense collection of 18th, 19th, and 20th-century table and upright tombs. Two pairs of rubble gate piers mark the entrance. Ground floor windows in the east and west gables likely served as former entrances. The building is no longer in ecclesiastical use.
