Description

19 High Street in Fortrose is a Gothic-style terrace of three houses designed by John Rhind in 1869. The building is constructed from snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and stands two storeys tall, featuring 11 bays. The end bays are canted and topped with broad tall gablets, while the centre bay also has a broad tall gablet. The first-floor windows in the end bays are bipartite with four-centred arched doorpieces. Most first-floor windows, except those in the second and tenth bays, are pointed arched with plate tracery and have gablet dormerheads. The centre bay has paired pointed arched windows on the first floor. Additional architectural details include a corbelled eaves course, serrated skews, and stiff leaf finials at the dormerheads. The roof is slated, and there are cast iron railings at the front gardens.
