Description

Ceannacroc Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford, was built between 1808 and 1811. It is a two-span bridge constructed from rubble with tooled granite dressings. The bridge features a pair of unequal tooled granite arch rings and has tooled granite cutwaters that rise as buttresses, along with later added cast-iron ties. The parapet is made of tooled granite, although a portion is missing on the southwest (upstream) side. The approaches to the bridge are splayed. The approximate spans of the arches are 50 feet for the main arch and 36 feet for the secondary flood arch.
