Description
This is an early 20th century henhouse, likely designed by W.L. Carruthers. It is a small, unusual octagonal building of white harled construction, with ashlar margins. The building’s southeast corner is squared off; a secondary entrance is located there. The main entrance, facing north, has moulded margins and a plank door with a small opening for chickens at its base, alongside square, louvred windows. The roof has a bellcast piended and facetted slate covering, with small shaped and leaded louvred vents, a leaded apex supporting a slender weather cock, and a wallhead stack. The interior consists of small, interconnected chambers, including a small cast-iron stove.
