Description
This is an 1845 Free Church, now serving as a builder’s store and situated within a roughly coped drystone walled enclosure. The symmetrical rectangular building is constructed of red rubble stone with tooled rubble dressings, and a harled west gable. A central entrance is located on the east gable, flanked by round-headed windows providing access to a gallery. Matching small windows are situated in the west gable above a projecting minister’s porch which features a side entrance and an end stack. The north and south elevations consist of three bays each, with round-headed windows on the ground floor and small square-headed gallery windows above. The windows are multi-pane casements. A birdcage bellcote is positioned at the apex of the east gable, and the building is roofed with slate. Further details are recorded in W. Ewing’s Annals of the Free Church (1914), page 215.
