The Roundhouse, 1, 2 Harbour Place, Wick

The Roundhouse, located at 1 and 2 Harbour Place in Wick, was designed by Thomas Telford in 1807. This two-storey, three-bay house has a rectangular plan and features overhanging eaves that connect the bowed outer bays. The exterior is finished with harled, coursed Caithness stone slabs and has a piended roof with a chimney stack at the ridge, which has been reduced in height.

On the north elevation facing Harbour Quay, there is a timber panelled door at the centre, flanked by the advanced, bowed bays and regular window arrangement. The south elevation, or rear, has irregular fenestration and includes a single-storey out-house with a piended roof that abuts the centre right. Both the east and west side elevations consist of two bays with regular fenestration.

The interior details were not observed in 2001. The building features 12-pane sash and case windows, a roof covered with grey slates and lead flashing, and a long central ridge stack, which has been lowered since the building was listed. It also includes cast-iron rainwater goods.
