Description
10 Knockbreck Street in Tain is a house built around 1840, featuring two storeys and a wide three-bay design. The exterior is constructed of stugged rubble with finely broached dressings. It has panelled outer pilasters and a shallow, slightly advanced central bay that includes a pilastered doorpiece and a two-leaf panelled door. A band course runs between the floors. The windows are two-light designs with moulded wooden mullions, raised margins, and eight-pane glazings, with lying-pane glazings in the central first-floor window and at the rear. The house has a lintel and eaves course, deep wooden eaves, and corniced end stacks. The roof is a piended slate style with two small hips at the rear. There is also a stair window located at the rear (east) of the house.
