Description
St Kentigern's Hostel, located at 10 Partickhill Road in Glasgow, was built around 1869 and features a Jacobean architectural style. This symmetrical building is two stories high with a basement, constructed from snecked rubble and adorned with ashlar dressings. It has eight unequal bays across three sections. The entrances on the east and west sides are pilastered, with round-headed stairlights positioned above them. The building has an ashlar plinth course and sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing.
On the southeast elevation facing Partickhill Road, the first four bays from the east consist of two gabled sections. These sections have corniced ground floor windows that are mirrored above, featuring strapwork pediments. There are blind niches in the gables, and the gables are topped with moulded skews and kneelers. The lower two-bay section to the west has a canted bay and is set back, with moulded skews on the gable that include a finial. The building also has an eaves cornice.
The rear elevation is plain, and the building features axial stacks and a slate roof.
