Description
Newlands South Church, located at 2 Langside Drive in Glasgow, was designed by H E Clifford and built between 1901 and 1903 as a United Free Church. The church features Gothic architecture and is constructed from snecked Giffnock ashlar with slate roofs.
The church occupies a corner site and showcases a design variant used by Clifford in other churches, such as St James' in Pollock. It has a tall transept and a porch at opposite ends, connected by a shallow side aisle. A large traceried window is set in the buttressed gable facing Langside Drive.
Inside, the walls are faced with Auchenheath stone, and there is an open hammerbeam roof. The side aisles are supported by arches on low octagonal piers.
To the west, there is a hall that features a twin-gabled front facing Riverside Road.
