Description

Founded 1866, rebuilt 1873.

3-storey 19-by 4-bay block, red brick with yellow brick window margins and cornice, ashlar rusticated quoins and cills. Ornate tie-plates. Large basket arched door to Milnpark Street with rusticated dressings and keystone now partly blocked. Ground floor arched door and all but 8 windows blocked. 1st floor arched windows with iron frames and fanlights. 9 southern windows are hinged northern 10 fixed, all original.

3rd floor timber framed windows.

(12 blocked). Dentil cornice, corrugated roof.

Interior: 9 southern bays are 3-storey, with iron cylindrical columns. 10 northern bays front a 2-storey ground floor buttressed erecting shop with in-situ travelling crane and tall brick open arcade.

Milnpark Street: Lower 3-storey 4-by 4-bay red and yellow brick offices with iron-framed windows on ground and 2nd floors. Aedicule pedimented doorway. Ashlar quoins. Dentil cornice, 2 polychrome wallhead stacks. Slate roof. Oriel at rear faces into corrugated fitting shop.
