Mount Florida Parish Church And Hall, 1123 Cathcart Road, Glasgow

Mount Florida Parish Church and Hall, built between 1884 and 1888 by John Hamilton, is a Gothic church located on a corner site at 1123 Cathcart Road in Glasgow. The church features a gabled main elevation facing Cathcart Road and turns the corner into Hampden Drive. It has two stages of an incomplete tower that fronts the side aisle, balanced by a low projection with pinnacles to the left of the main gable. The exterior is constructed of stugged and snecked ashlar with polished dressings.

The front of the church includes triple gables at the ground level, with a central porch and windows on either side, and a large geometric window above. The cill course of this window continues around the other elevations and steps down as hood-moulds over the traceried aisle windows in the buttressed flanks. The south flank facing Hampden Drive features a large transept near the tower, which is flush with the aisle wall and contains a geometric-traceried window at the gallery level. The tower has stages with angle buttresses and a door leading to Hampden Drive. The slate roofs are designed with the main roof sweeping over the aisles. The church is enclosed by decorative cast-iron railings that connect with the buttresses.
