United Free Church, Cathcart Road, Glasgow

Battlefield East Church, designed by J Galt, was built between 1911 and 1912. An earlier church by John Honeyman, constructed in 1865, now functions as a hall.

The present church features Gothic architecture and is made of bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings. It has a symmetrical gabled front facing the street, with a buttressed central doorway and flanking three-light vestibule windows. Above the entrance is a large traceried window, and the flanking bays, each with a gable on the side elevation, likely contain gallery staircases. The rear includes additional ranges, including a church officer's flat, and there is an extensive series of leaded windows.

The hall is constructed of yellow ashlar and features lancet windows, with an unusual semi-circular eastern end that has a curved roof. The transepts have stepped three-light windows, and there is a gabled porch at the eastern end of the south wall, along with a further range to the west.

Both buildings have slated roofs and are enclosed by an iron-railed boundary along the street, which includes stone gatepiers.
