Description
The Tourist Office at 11 George Square in Glasgow is a three-storey and basement office building, designed in the Italian Renaissance style, likely by John Burnet around 1863. The building features painted ashlar with channelled detailing at the ground level and less pronounced channeling on the first floor. It has a dentil cornice on both the first and second floors, along with a modillioned eaves cornice.
On the outer left, there is an original corniced doorway flanked by Ionic channelled pilasters and adorned with guilloche ornamentation on the frieze. The first and second floors have architraved windows, with paterae above the windows on the first floor and carved floral decorations above those on the second floor. The bays of the second floor are separated by Corinthian pilasters. The building also features plate glass sash and case windows.
