Description
447, 449, and 451 Gallowgate in Glasgow is a red ashlar corner tenement building designed by Frank Burnet & Boston in 1912. It features a flat roof and includes some sculptured details. The ground floor houses a pub with a red granite base and ironwork above the door. At the corner of the building, there is an octagonal turret that rises from above the ground floor, slightly corbelled out at the top stage, and topped with a modern lead-covered cap, with wall-head stacks on either side. The elevations have single and grouped lights, and there is an oriel window corbelled above the ground at the outer bay of each front. The rear of the building is finished in yellow brick. Inside the pub, there are two tall columns with decorative capitals that support the roof, along with some acid-etched panels.
