Description

Circa 1860. Reconstructed James M Munro 1901. 4-storey,

9-bay asymmetrical commercial building, modern ground floor.

Painted ashlar. All windows in architraves, chamfered

reveals, some keyblocked. Elevation divided into 3 blocks, E

block: shallow projecting bipartite windows in outer bays

(mullions removed 2nd floor) 2 single windows in central

bay 1st and 2nd floors, large, semi-circular window at 3rd

floor with scrolled pediment and shaped gable breaking

through balustrade. Corner bay rises 1 storey higher with

semi-circular window, cornice and pyramidal roof.

CENTRAL BLOCK: 4-bays, reversing the detail of E block with

stepped gable over 2 central bays.

W BLOCK: 2 bays with similar details.

Return to West Campbell Street unequal bays with shaped

gables. Gable end to Sauchiehall Lane.
