Description
5 Garth Street in Glasgow is a building dating from around 1800. It is four storeys tall with an attic and features a five-bay front, along with a four-bay elevation facing Brunswick Street. Originally, the building served both domestic and commercial purposes and is constructed from painted ashlar stone.
The ground floor on Garth Street has been modernized with an arcaded design, currently used for windows and doors. There is a cill course at the first floor level, and a simple frieze and cornice are located between the second and third floors. The fourth floor includes a blind central window and has a 12-pane glazing pattern. The building is topped with an eaves cornice and features two modern, canted dormers along with a shouldered wallhead stack. The gable end has four bays, an apex stack, and ashlar coped skews, all covered by a slate roof.
