Description

James Miller, dated 1906. Edwardian Queen Anne. Revival. 3-storey, L-planned fire station and firemen's dwellings planned around rear courtyard; 15 x 19 window elevations with plain W return to Meadow Road. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Ashlar plinth. Sash and case windows, keyblocked, 12-pane glazing.

ELEVATION TO SANDY ROAD: central 3-bay section set in channelled strips with ashlar, arched carriage entrance; segmentally pedimented at roof level with keyblocked oculus and relief sculpture. Segmentally pedimented entrance at No 9 Sandy Road. Stack corbelled out at 1st floor with date panel. Modillion cornice.

ELEVATION TO BEITH STREET: windows 10-9 segementally pedimented, entrances at Nos 120 and 122. 9-bay E section. W section windows arranged in groups of 2. 5-bay ashlar arcaded engine house entrances, corniced frieze 'PARTICK FIRE BRIGADE STATION". Tall corniced, axial and wallhead stacks. Tall, square, corniced tower in courtyard to rear.
