Description
199-209 Albert Drive in Glasgow is a late 19th to early 20th century three-storey tenement featuring two short return elevations and shops on the ground floor. The building showcases free-style renaissance ornamentation above, with stone-cleaned polished ashlar. The first floor has blocked architraves with shaped window heads. The structure is composed of two ranges that are symmetrical in design but stepped to accommodate the slope. Above the ground floor, the bays feature either bipartite or shallow canted windows, all with plate glass sashes. There are recessed canted corner bays, with the one facing Kenmure Street (to the east) retaining a polygonal steep-pitched and slated roof. This range still has its slated roof, while the westmost range has a modern roof. The building includes stacks at the wall-head and also set below the apices.
