Description

2, 4, 6 Corunna Street in Glasgow is a classical tenement building designed by Alexander Kirkland around 1855. It stands three stories tall and features five by eighteen bays, with a distinctive recessed tripartite bowed corner bay. The fourth bay from the west on Argyle Street is a glazed blind. The ground floor has been altered along Argyle Street, with polished ashlar stonework and a channelled design at the ground level. Each entrance is pilastered, topped with a projecting frieze and cornice, and includes fanlights. The ground floor also has a cornice. All windows are sash and case, set within architraves, with mainly twelve-pane glazing in the first eight return bays from the north on Corunna Street. The second return bay is a glazed blind. The first-floor windows feature cornices, dropped architraves, and console brackets at the corner. The eaves cornice has been partially removed, and there is a parapet above the first eight return bays, which is panelled below the projecting wallhead stacks. The building has two additional wallhead stacks, ridge stacks, and a slate roof. Cast-iron railings surround the property.
