Description
188, 190, and 192 St Vincent Street in Glasgow is a building designed by F Burnet of Burnet and Boston, completed in 1897, showcasing English Renaissance detail. It is a three-storey structure with a basement and attic, featuring two asymmetrical bays and a red ashlar front.
The left bay has a gabled design with a three-storey, five-light ovoid window, supported by Corinthian capitals on giant shafts at the first and second floors. This bay also includes carved cartouches, a keyblocked Diocletian window in the gable, and figure sculpture at the apex. The ground floor openings are framed with a Gibbs surround.
The right bay features double doorways flanked by Corinthian columns, topped with a swan-neck pediment and a pulvinated frieze, along with tripartite windows on the floors above.
Inside, the hall retains its original cashiers desk and box.
