Description
Iron Gate, located at George V Bridge in Glasgow, was designed by Thomas Somers in association with Messrs Considere and built by Melville, Dundas and Whitson between 1924 and 1928. The structure is made of reinforced concrete faced with granite and features three segmental arches, with the carriageways rising to the center. It has balustraded parapets and includes a tiled pedestrian subway at the south bank. The middle span measures 146 feet, while the outer spans are 110 feet 6 inches.
