Description

David Barclay, architect; circa 1902. 11-bay terrace of

tenements, 3 storeys and basement; polished red ashlar,

stugged at basement, stonecleaned. 2-bay elevations except no

18 which is 3-bay.

To left, steps oversailing basement to double-leaf panelled

doors with moulded lintel and curvilinear moulding below

fanlight, latter with small pane glazing or leaded glass. Nos

13, 16 and 18 have small leaded lights flanking doors.

Vestibule doors with good leaded glass panels. To right (and

flanking door at no 18) full-height 5-light bow windows rise

to conical roof. Otherwise windows bipartite, tripartite at

no 18. Sash windows, plate glass glazing; most upper sashes

with leaded glass panes. Continuous moulded band courses over

ground and 1st floors. Eaves band, modillion cornice.

Corniced axial stacks; slate roofs; red ceramic ridge and

finials to conical roofs.

Low ashlar wall to steps supporting cast-iron railings with

intermediate ashlar gatepiers. Ashlar boundary/retaining wall

to gardens. Flank to no 18 rendered. Rear elevation stugged

ashlar with bi or tripartite windows.
