Description

David Barclay, architect; 1902. 2-storey, mid-terrace house

with low basement. Polished red ashlar with stugged ashlar

basement.

Asymmetrical elevation with recessed entrance bay to right.

Balustraded steps oversailing basement to wide Roman Ionic

balustraded porch with polished red granite columns.

Doorpiece with rounded arrises, double-leaf panelled door

flanked by leaded glazed sidelight. Vestibule door with good

leaded coloured glass. At left; single storey 3-light

balustraded square projecting window rises from basement;

remaining windows mainly bipartite. Sash windows; plate glass

lower sashes, leaded upper sashes. Continuous moulded band

course over ground. Eaves band, timber bracketted eaves

cornice. Corniced stacks with octagonal cans, slate roofs.

Stugged ashlar rear with canted bay window to basement and

ground floor. Communal driveway with gatepiers, see Nos 35

and 37 Kings Gate.
