Description

David Barclay, architect; 1908-1912. Curved terrace of 3

houses, truncated at S. 7 bays arranged 3-2-2. 2 storeys and

basement; polished red ashlar, stugged at basement.

No 5; steps oversailing basement to double-leaf panelled

doors flanked by leaded glass sidelights. Ground floor; to

left square 3-light projecting window. To right canted

2-storey 4-light window. 1st floor windows bipartite; 3-light

dormer over canted window.

Nos 7 and 9; 2-storey canted bay window to left steps to

double-leaf doorpiece with glazed fanlight. Bipartite window

above door. All with sash windows, plate glass in lower

sashes, small pane glazing to upper sashes. Band course over

ground continues as cornice around bay windows. Overhanging

eaves supported on timber brackets. Corniced axial stacks,

skews at party wall; decorative skew-putts, red tile

cresting.

Cast-iron railings to steps with squat, square ashlar

gatepiers. Low coped ashlar wall to gardens.

Terrace adjoins 65 Dowanside Road at N. S flank rendered.

Rear elevation coursed, stugged ashlar.
