Lyle And Co, 146 Crownpoint Road, Glasgow

Lyle and Co is a carpet factory located at 146 Crownpoint Road in Glasgow, designed by Thomson & Menzies and built between 1929 and 1930. This four-storey building has nine bays and follows the gentle curve of the road. It features red facing brick with blue engineering brick at the ground floor. The bays are articulated by giant order pilasters, and there is a white concrete fascia and cill course between the ground and first floors, along with a concrete entablature and cornice at the top of the wall. The end bays are topped with lugged concrete pediments at the parapet. The eastern end bay has an arched entrance, while the western end has a rectangular entrance. The windows are metal framed with a horizontal emphasis, although those on the ground and first floors have been blocked with later metal sheeting. Additionally, there is metal lettering that reads "Adam G Brown & Co" located between the second and third floors on the north elevation. The gables have been clad in metal at a later date.
