Description
Govanhill Public School, located at 13 Annette Street in Glasgow, was designed by H and D Barclay and completed in 1886. This building features a Palazzo-style design with a tall three-storey main block that has a rusticated ground floor. The central doorcase is flanked by pilasters, and the first-floor openings are topped with pediments. The top storey has two-light openings that are set below a deep bracketed cornice. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and has slate roofs.
On either side of the main block are rusticated one-and-a-half storey flanking ranges, while the tall rear range is made of squared rubble. The original glazing is intact throughout the building. The property is enclosed by iron-railed playground walls and features square gatepiers.
