Description
73-75 Trongate in Glasgow is a Tudor Gothic style block of offices and shops, built around 1840-1850, located next to the Tron Steeple. The building is two stories high and has six bays, with a taller, shallow gabled bay on the right side. The ground floor features modern shopfronts that detract from its character. On the first floor, there are five single light windows with hood moulds on the left, and a tripartite window on the right bay, which has a hood mould that rises to a small pediment above the central light. All windows are sash and case with plate glass glazing. The building has a moulded eaves cornice with mutules, a deep plain parapet, and a shaped gable with a finial apex on the right. At the gable head, there is a moulded panel displaying the Glasgow coat of arms.
