Description
142-144 Trongate in Glasgow is a four-storey warehouse built around 1875, featuring a cast-iron frame and eclectic detailing. The symmetrical facade has three bays, each containing three windows. Iron colonnettes separate the bays, while the first and second floors are adorned with giant order terminal masonry pilasters that are partly fluted and have decorated capitals. The outer bays on the third floor feature paired pilasters. The windows on the third floor have stilted segmental heads with circlets in the spandrels. All windows are fitted with sash and case plate-glass glazing. There are moulded bands above each floor and an eaves cornice. A good cast-iron balustrade crowns the parapet, which has ashlar die piers; however, the parapet and piers are missing on the left side. The building is topped with slate roofs.
