Description
167 Trongate in Glasgow is a four-storey, three-bay warehouse built between 1848 and 1850, likely designed by James Wylson. The building features classical details and has painted rendered walls with channelled quoins. The ground floor has been altered for shops, but the central front remains symmetrical and emphasised.
On the first floor, there is a tripartite pilastered window with a pediment, flanked by single lights that have unusual shouldered architraves. The second floor has a similarly detailed window, flanked by a bipartite window with a blind balcony above the central three windows. The third floor features three single lights with similar architraves.
Most of the windows are sash and case, with some fixed single panes, all fitted with plate-glass glazing. The building has a band course above each floor, a cill band on the second floor, a string course at the eaves, a deep bracketed eaves cornice, and a blocking course at the top.
