Description
Kingarth is a mid-19th century villa that showcases details inspired by David Hamilton's unique revivalist style. The building is two stories high and has three bays, featuring an L-shaped front with a narrow central entrance bay. The gable on the right is advanced and includes distinctive skew moulding, while the other bays have dormer heads. On the ground floor, there is a projecting window to the right and a canted window to the left, which may be original, along with a similar window on the gable facing Kilmarnock Road. The outer first-floor windows are bipartites with hood moulds and basket-arched lights. The exterior is made of cleaned, polished ashlar stone, with plate glass sashes and end stacks, all topped by a slate roof. There is a modern wing to the right of the villa. The property is enclosed by an ashlar perimeter wall, which features square gatepiers and timber balustrading.
