Description
Rossie House is a plain three-storey mansion originally built around 1710 and extended in 1753 by George Paterson of Newmilns. It was reconstructed around 1776 and features a three-window-wide façade with an advanced three-window bow on the right-hand wing. The exterior has harled walls with exposed corner pilasters and window margins, hipped slate roofs, stone stacks, and a single dormer. The entrance has a pedimented doorpiece that is off-centre to the left, and there is a conservatory on the left gable end. A crenellated screen wall extends to the right, connecting to a hipped slate outbuilding, with the wall returning forward to create a gateway to Rossie farm. Fire-escapes are located at the rear.
