Description
Old Field is a picturesque, asymmetrical villa dating from approximately 1865, designed by James Campbell Walker. The house is two storeys high and built of whin rubble with stugged and broached ashlar dressings and banding. It has a roughly L-shaped plan, with a projecting two-story canted angle at the east, featuring a deeply projecting gable above a round-arched window. An altered timber porch is located in the re-entrant angle, with a small decorative timber dormer above it. A canted window is present on the ground floor of the projecting gabled bay. The roof is slate. A substantial two-storey addition has been made to the west. The design is almost identical to that of Old Calabar, located at 15 Crescent Road.
