Description

Cardy House is an 1873 villa designed by David Gillies of Lower Largo. It is a two-story, three-bay building constructed from polished ashlar, with rusticated quoins and dressings. The front facade features a central door recessed within cavetto moulded reveals, topped by a bracketed cornice and a low balcony supporting a small figure of Atlas. A tripartite window is positioned to the left, while two-story, four-light canted windows are found to the right. The building has a cornice and blocking course, with corniced stacks at each end, and a piended platform roof with wrought-iron cresting. A good greenhouse is located within the walled garden to the east. The garden is enclosed by a brick and rubble wall, flanked by two polygonal painted ashlar gatepiers.
